The Right Response social workers work with your school to implement flexible social work supports that make sense in your setting. We can work with students one on one and in groups, work with teachers to support students, provide crisis response for students, staff and administration, and provide special education services. We can work with your staff and administration to establish co-located mental health services for your students. We can develop and implement plans or training related to shifting school climate, engaging your community in restorative practices, and responding to crisis. We work with you to meet your school’s specific needs, and bring a trauma-informed and equity-seeking lens to our work supporting your school and students.
School Based Services
Special Education Services
We provide direct and indirect social work support to students to meet their Individualized Education Program goals and service minutes. We work with students to meet their goals in social emotional learning, self-monitoring, emotional regulation, social skill development, problem solving, and self-advocacy, as well as other goals.
General Education Services
We provide group or one on one student support for students as needed, often related to loss, grief, anxiety, and peer conflict. We teach mindfulness to students in small or large groups.
School-wide Support
We provide administrative support for attendance and truancy, 504 plans, and policy development. We support or lead crisis response teams.
Planning and Implementation
We work with administration, special education teams, or other school working groups to develop plans and support implementation to improve school processes or climate. We can lead or support a planning process at any stage, from needs assessment to evaluation. Topics in planning and implementation can include addressing changing school populations, developing a crisis response plan, using trauma informed practices in safety protocols, implementing restorative justice practices, or implementing social emotional learning practices, among others.
Staff Development and Workshops
We provide training and workshops to your staff on topics of need. We train both large and small groups of staff, and tailor the content to your needs.
Topics can include:
• Mental health
• Suicide risk factors and response
• Child development
• Mandated reporting
• Healthy boundaries and relationships
• Bullying and/or cyber-bullying
• Homeless and highly mobile student needs
• Supporting LGBTQ students
• Trauma and its impact on students
• Historical trauma and its impact on students and communities
• Restorative justice practices or Staff Circles (link to Circles)
• Mindfulness
Mindfulness in schools
Mindfulness teaches us to be aware of ourselves and our environment. Mindfulness is a foundational skill that can lead to more self-control, ability to focus and ability to remain calm. Mindfulness practice has been shown to have significant correlation with social and academic success. Right Response can work with you to identify how Mindfulness teaching and practice can be incorporated into your setting in small and big ways.
